Commuters faced chaos during rush hour this morning after Scotland woke up to a blanket of snow.

Heavy snow and icy conditions made for a difficult start to Tuesday morning, as police reported 125 crashes occured on Scottish roads.

The Met Office issued a yellow warning for snow and ice on Monday evening, and anounced another for Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday morning.

A spokesperson said: "Ice will form in places later on Tuesday afternoon and overnight into Wednesday, especially where wintry showers leave surfaces wet.

"Further hail, sleet and snow showers are also likely at times."

But while the weather brought with it red noses and icy windscreens, it also brought out the beauty of the country in white.
