A man has been arrested in London's Leicester Square for brandishing a weapon.

Officers rushed to the scene at 8:40am after reports of a man 'waving a gun around'

The incident is not being treated as terror-related.

The man was pinned to the ground by officers and arrested. 

A Met Police spokesman said: "Police in Leicester Square were flagged down by a member of public at about 8.40am today to reports of a man believed to be in possession of a firearm.

"The man was arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm.
