A lorry has struck a railway bridge between two central train stations.

Scotrail reported the vehicle had collided between Busby and Clarkston just after 12pm on Wednesday.

They announced that train services to and from East Kilbride would be unable to run.

Engineers were quickly on scene to carry out inspections of the bridge.

Ticket acceptance on First Buses has been put in place for passengers attempting to travel during the lunch period.

Disruption is expected to last unitl 14:30.

Commuters on social media were also reporting disruption to the roads surrounding the bridge, saying that traffic had begun to tailback just as the lorry crashed into the bridge.

Two trains are set to travel at reduced capacity whilst engineers continue to inspect the bridge.
