The rapper who gave his girlfriend a fatal overdose of a party drug and filmed her dying without getting help was jailed for eight-and-a-half years.

Louella Fletcher-Michie, the daughter of Taggart and Holby City actor John Michie, was found dead in woodland near the Bestival site in Dorset after taking the drug 2-CP in September 2017.

Ceon Broughton, 30, yesterday apologised for not doing more to save his 24-year-old yoga and dance-teacher girlfriend after he “bumped up” her dose.

In a court statement, the convicted drug-dealer said: “Sorry I didn’t do more to save Louella.

“Sorry for the suffering I caused to those who loved Louella. I want to make things right.”

But sentencing him at Winchester Crown Court, Mr Justice Goose said he displayed “grossly negligent conduct...in the face of her very obvious suffering”.

Jurors had heard Broughton failed to act because he had been handed a 24-week prison sentence, suspended for one year, a month before.

Mr Justice Goose said: “I have come to the clear conclusion you were only concerned for yourself.

“You had created an obviously dangerous situation, you were not concerned until it was too late.

“Whilst you were doing little to help Louella you were sending messages to a friend asking him to say that Louella had obtained the drugs from an unknown person.

“You were more concerned to create a defence.”

It came a day after Broughton was convicted of manslaughter and supplying her with 2-CP at Bestival in Dorset before she died, just an hour before her 25th birthday.

He said Broughton was “selfish” and more concerned with avoiding arrest than saving Miss Fletcher-Michie’s life.

Mr Michie, 62, who played DI Robbie Ross in Taggart and Karl Munro in Coronation Street, as well as CEO Guy Self in Holby City, has sat in the public gallery with his wife, Carol, a former Hot Gossip dancer, and two children, Sam and Penny, throughout the trial.

Broughton’s sentence includes seven years for manslaughter and 18 months for supplying the drug to Miss Fletcher-Michie, to run concurrently.

He also received a further 13 months for two previous drug supply offences at Glastonbury Festival, and five months for a previous suspended sentence for possession of a bladed article in public – coming to a total of eight-and-a-half years.

Throughout the trial he refused to give evidence.

A rapper Milkavelli sparked controversy when he posted a tribute to Broughton yesterday on Instagram: “I love you Ceon.

“You don’t deserve this. I got you forever.”

He also posted images of the couple together and challenged people to block or unfollow him if they disagreed.

Broughton and Milkavelli had performed previously together under stage name CEONRPG.
