SCOTLAND internationalist Lewis Morgan reckons he is back to his best after flourishing in his recall to the Sunderland team at the weekend.

The on-loan Celtic playmaker was handed his first start in four matches in Saturday’s 2-0 victory over Plymouth and repaid Black Cats manager Jack Ross by setting up Lee Cattermole for the opening goal.

Morgan only began one game for Celtic during the first half of the campaign but believes he is close to recapturing the form that led to the Hoops taking him from St Mirren.

He said: “I’m really focused on making sure I keep my place in the team. If I can get an extended run of games, I know I’ll keep improving.

“I’ve come down from Scotland and I’ve not played as much football as I would want this season, so it was always going to take a wee while for me to get going.

“I think I’m getting back to that match sharpness now.

“I’m feeling sharp. I’m someone who likes to be direct, so it’s important to get games in my legs and minutes in my legs, and I’ll only keep improving for that.

“My job is to create things for the rest of the team and to score myself, and hopefully that’s something I can bring.

“I’ve come down here to play games, and I fully back myself that I can bring something to the team. I thought I did well in the first half on Saturday.”
