A man was left needing hospital treatment after being shot in East Ayrshire.

The 46-year-old was found injured near to Ayr Road, Kilmarnock, at around 1.50pm on Monday.

He was taken by ambulance to nearby Crosshouse Hospital and treated for injuries thought to have been caused by a firearm.

The man has since been released from hospital.

Police are appealing for information about the incident in East Ayrshire.

A police spokesman said: “Enquiries are at an early stage to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident and anyone with information is asked to contact Kilmarnock CID via 101, quoting incident number 1898 of Monday 11 March 2019.”
