Who are the members of Change UK?

Change UK is formed of eight former Labour MPs and three former Conservative MPs.

From Labour: Chuka Umunna, Gavin Shuker, Luciana Berger, Ann Coffey, Mike Gapes, Chris Leslie, Joan Ryan and Angela Smith have joined.

Anna Soubry, Sarah Wollaston and Heidi Allen are the three from the Conservative Party.

Who is the leader of Change UK?

Former Tory Heidi Allen has been selected as the interim leader of Change UK.

The group say that the process for an election of the permanent leader will be announced in due course.

Heidi Allen left the Conservative Party for the Independent Group in February, and renounced her membership of the Tories after they allowed a "hard-line anti-EU awkward squad" to take over the party.

She said: “Today marks a huge step forward on The Independent Group’s journey to becoming a fully-fledged political party, so I am delighted to have been chosen as our interim leader."

Why have they registered?

The group have registered as a political party in order to be able to fight European elections if they take place this year.

If there is a further delay to Brexit, the UK will have to take part in the European Parliament elections on May 23.

It means that they could have candidates in the elections.

What do they stand for?

Since they're not an official party yet, they haven't published a manifesto. They have, however, given an overview of their values.

These include removing the barriers of poverty, prejudice and discrimination that face individuals in Britain, acting on the urgency of climate change and giving more powers and representation to local governments.

Where do they stand on Brexit?

The group initially bonded over their shared drive to prevent a no-deal Brexit.

Several members had been working together in the months leading up to the breakaway on the People's Vote campaign.

Where do they stand on Scottish Independence?

It's not known yet where they stand on Scottish Independence, but several members have voiced concerns about what Brexit will mean for Scotland.

Just hours after the party registration was announced, Anna Soubry said she was concerned that Brexit will increase the desire for Scotland to break away from the union.

What if there's a General Election?

At the moment, there are no public plans in place by the group on what will happen in the event of a general election.

They have said, however, that specific arrangements will be made and announced in the event of a snap election being called before the inaugural conference of Change UK in September.
