Commuters faced lengthy delays this morning following a string of cancellations of rail services between Glasgow and Edinburgh.

Four trains due to travel before 9am have been cancelled by Scotrail due to "a shortage of train crew".

The 6.05am train from Edinburgh to Glasgow, which was due to arrive in the city at 7.17am, has already been pulled, along with the 7am service in the same direction.

The 7.25am and 8am trains leaving Glasgow Queen Street have also been cancelled.

40 services were listed in total as being cancelled by Scotrail, including Edinburgh from Glasgow services at 10.26am, 1.26pm and 4.26pm, as well as returning journeys from the Capital at 9.05am, 12.04pm and 3.04pm.
