Ferry giant Calmac has cancelled sailings on seven routes, including from Oban to Mull, amid heavy seas and high winds.
The state-owned operator also warned of potential disruption or delays to ten more routes, including its busiest Ardrossan to Arran crossing.
The firm there would be no more crossings on Monday, April 15, to from Mallaig to Lochboisdale on Harris; from Oban to Craignure on Mull, from Oban to Colonsay, Islay and Kennacraig on the Mull of Kintyre; from Oban to Castlebay on Barra; from Kennacraig to Islay; from Claonaig on Kintyre to Lochranza on Arran; and from Fhionnport to Iona.
It said the Oban-Lochboisdale service was cancelled "due to the adverse weather forecast giving wind speeds up to 48 knots". When announcing the Oban-Castlebay cancellation, the firm blamed a combination of weather and ongoing technical problems with MV Isle of Lewis.
Several sailings between Arran and the mainland were cancelled on Monday. Calmac said it would try to restart the iconic ferry service this evening.
Its website said: Due to a slight improvement in the weather service will resume with the MV Caledonian Isles departing Ardrossan at 1800 although berthing in Brodick may not be guaranteed due to a heavy swell. If berthing is successful the 1920 sailing from Brodick will operate as scheduled."
Calmac urged travellers to check its website for updates about extra crossings or further disruption tomorrow.
