The Isle of Bute has been hit by a series of wildfires on its northern side.

A large area of moorland and forestry has been affected, firefighters have told the BBC.

The fires broke out overnight on Thursday and Friday.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue service said an appliance had been sent to the scene.

But it returned when darkness fell as it was considered dangerous to be on the hills.

A spokeswoman said that the crew would return on Saturday morning "if required".
