Nicola Sturgeon is expected to outline a “detailed and substantive statement setting out a path forward for Scotland” today when she updates Holyrood on her future plans for independence.

The First Minister is expected to address the chamber today at around 1:30pm with some speculating that she will demand the power to hold a second referendum, a so-called Section 30 order.

According to reports, Theresa May has already decided to block a second independence referendum if Nicola Sturgeon today pushes for a fresh vote, however, independence supporters will be hoping that the First Minister’s announcement today will be the start another independence campaign.

The Greens have said it would be “hugely disappointing” if Ms Sturgeon failed to use the ‘triple-lock’ mandate she claims to have for another vote, and many supporters of independence will be hoping that the statement from the First Minister is the next step towards indyref 2.
