Former Arsenal star Jose Antonio Reyes has been killed in a car crash in Spain.

The 35-year-old footballer was involved in a serious car accident on Saturday.

Sevilla, where the star had two spells, confirmed the news on their Twitter.

They wrote: "We couldn't be confirming worse news. Beloved Sevilla star José Antonio Reyes has died in a traffic collision. Rest in peace."

Reyes joined Arsenal from the La Liga side at the beginning of 2004, and formed part of the 'Invincibles' side that won the Premier League.

He later spent a season on loan at Spanish team Real Madrid in 2006-07.

He won the Europea League twice at Atletico Madrid and three times at Sevilla after leaving the Gunners in 2007.
