Alexandra Park has reopened after a suspicious item was found to pose no risk to the public.

A bomb squad was called to Glasgow's East End following the discovery just after 8am this morning.

The Provan Road entrance was closed off by police as officers assess the scene.

According to the Evening Times, part of the park golf course has been closed by the police.

One golfer was told by officers: “I was told when I started that the police have instructed golfers not to play hole 8 with a vague reference to a bomb.

“We can play the other holes of the course."

Locals had been urged to avoid the area if possible.
