Police have identified human remains in their search for Emma Faulds. 

The 39-year-old was reported missing to police on Tuesday, April 30.

The last confirmed sighting was around 9.10pm on April 28 when she was in Monkton, Ayrshire.

Police searches had been focused around Barrhill, particularly along the A714 between Girvan and Newton Stewart.

Police Scotland confirmed that human remains have been found as part of their investigation into her disappearance.

A spokeswoman said: “On Wednesday, June 12, human remains were discovered in the Galloway Forest, Dumfries and Galloway.

“The family of Emma Faulds has been made aware.

“Enquiries are ongoing.”

Last month a man appeared in court charged with the murder of Ms Faulds.

Ross Willox was also charged with attempting to defeat the ends of justice on May 10 before returning to Ayr Sheriff Court a week later for a second hearing.

The 40-year-old from Ayrshire made no plea and was remanded in custody.
