BBC Question Time viewers have hailed a speech from comedian Francesca Martinez with many describing it as the "best ever moment" on the BBC's flagship political show.

The 40-year-old, who has cerebral palsy, slammed the government for having "blood on its hands" during an impassioned two-minute speech on the show.

She also hit out at the Conservative Government and Boris Johnson over cuts to disability benefits, describing them as 'absolutely outrageous'.

In her speech, she said: "The biggest reason I am not a fan of Boris is he has backed austerity policies, again and again.

"Austerity has caused the death of 130,000 human beings in Britain. That is absolutely outrageous.

"That's 130,000 mums, dads, daughters, sons, uncles and aunts who have died because the Tories and the Lib Dems decided to make ordinary people pay for a crash that was caused by bankers, who we bailed out."

Martinez said: "As a 'wobbly woman', I really have to highlight the tens of thousands of disabled and sick people who have died after being found fit for work.

"We are one of the richest countries in the world and this is absolutely outrageous. Even the UN has called Tory welfare reform a violation of disabled people's rights."

She continued: "Anyone can become disabled or sick at any time and right now this government is taking away the safety net that we have fought for collectively over decades to help those in need.

The speech from Martinez was widely supported by audience members in Brecon who frequently interrupted her speech to applaud.

And viewers were quick to praise her with one social media user writing: "Best ever moment on QT...at least for a very long time" with another adding "What a hero"

Another wrote: "Francesca Martinez was incredible on BBCQT. An eloquent, passionate, systematic and real dismantling of austerity as leadership candidates clamour endlessly to help the rich, deconstruct the NHS, destroy the economy and paint themselves as "straight-talking" and "in touch"

The clip from Question Time has been shared widely across social media with Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn calling on his social media followers to view the "must watch" clip.

The Institute for Public Policy Research, a think tank, recently found that Tory cuts were responsible for more than 130,000 preventable deaths in the UK since 2012.
