Rail bosses are reminding passengers that platforms in Glasgow Queen Street will be closed throughout July.

The developments come as part of the £120 million redevelopment of the busy city centre public transport hub.

Platforms 2 & 3 on the upper level are being extended to make room for longer, greener electric trains.

Scotland's third-busiest station will thereafter be able to accommodate longer Class-385 trains.

The two platforms will close from Sunday, June 30 and reopen for the start of service on Monday, July 29.

Although the majority of services to and from the station will be unaffected, the month-long closure will cause alterations to some services on the following routes:

  • Glasgow Queen Street - Anniesland
  • Glasgow Queen Street - Edinburgh (via Cumbernauld and Falkirk Grahamston)
  • Glasgow Queen Street - Aberdeen
  • Glasgow Queen Street - Inverness

Facilities in the station are also set to change ahead of the platform works, with several being relocated to allow for construction to be carried out.

The station toilets and waiting room will be moved to the former North Hanover Street car park from June 23.

The lost property and left luggage office will relocate to North Hanover Street.
