More than 10,000 people marched through an Ayrshire town today in support of Scottish independence, according to event organisers.

It is the fourth march in a series of pro-indy demonstrations in the last few months organised by All Under One Banner.

The Ayr rally comes after tens of thousands marched through Glasgow City Centre in May, Galashiels held its first rally last month, and Oban saw thousands on its streets soon after.

The procession took off from Blackburn car park at 1.30pm, and travelled through the town centre to eventually finish at the Low Green.

Organisers have revealed their official number to be 'at least 13,000'.

South Ayrshire Council advised no roads would be officially closed, but motorists were asked to allow extra time for their journeys after 1.30pm in the afternoon.

The town's High Street was closed off yesterday due to an unsafe building, causing many to fear the march would not go ahead.

Despite the closure, participants continued through the town in a peaceful rally.
