MARINA operator Yacht Havens Group is investing £1.2 million to create a 10-suite hotel at Troon.
The company, run by the Kalis family, plans to open the Salt House Hotel in early 2020. It is promising a “Scandi-Scot-influenced” collection of one and two-bedroom suites. The hotel will feature new-build and conversion elements, with previous retail and office space being refurbished as part of the development.

Yacht Havens Group has nine locations, including marinas at Lymington in Hampshire and Largs as well as sites in Plymouth, Neyland in Pembrokeshire, Fambridge in Essex, and Jachthaven Biesbosch in the Netherlands. Troon Yacht Haven has more than 400 serviced berths for boats up to 40 metres.
Yacht Havens Group, established in 1972, said the hotel would feature “crisp weatherboarding in ocean colours”, and “echo Scandinavian timber homes and traditional Scottish boathouses”.

It added that each suite would also have an individual stamp with “feature fabrics and wallpaper created from blueprints of yachts designed by the world-renowned William Fife III and family of nearby Fairlie”.
Stephen Bennie, manager of Troon Yacht Haven, said: “With…marinas firmly established in premier locations around the UK, our focus has turned to finding vibrant and complementary ways to open up our waterfront locations to make them accessible to new visitors and, of course, create added opportunities for our berth-holders.”

He added: “After dipping our toes in the water successfully with a restaurant, pub and floating pods, we were keen to open up the beautiful setting of Troon Yacht Haven and create something very special.”
