KENNETH ANDERSEN insists Midtjylland are the Europa League underdogs going into their clash with Rangers.

The Light Blues have made the trip to Herning for the first leg of their third qualifying round clash after overcoming St Joseph’s and Progres Niederkorn so far in the competition.

Boss Steven Gerrard led his side into the group stages last term with victories over Shkupi, Osijek, Maribor and Ufa.

And Ulvene Andersen reckons that continental experience gives Rangers the edge as he looks to cause an upset over the next fortnight.

He said: “It’s a big game for all us. For the club, the players and the coaches.

“We have reached the play-off round before but we want to go further and hopefully make the group stage.

“We need a bit of luck because the game will be a tough one. I think Rangers are the favourites against us here.

“Why? When I look at the two teams, the history, what Rangers did last year in reaching the group stage, it makes me think they have a little bit more than us.

“They are also a little bit older than us so when I look at that altogether then it makes Rangers a little bit the favourites in my point of view.

“We will go for the victory, of course we will. Maybe after the game we will be happy with the draw but we will go for the victory.

“For me. It’s just being realistic. It’s the way I see it.

“But we take the challenge. We have done that before against Southampton and Man United.

“The coaches and the players believe that we can do it again over two games to beat Rangers.”
