MUSIC legend Johnny Marr was forced to leave the stage due to extreme weather conditions in Edinburgh.

The legendary musician, 55, is supporting Primal Scream at the gig in Edinburgh's Princes Street Gardens on Saturday night - but halfway through his set, he was forced to abandon the show.

Revellers at the outshow door were shown an announcement on the screen which said: "This is a safety announcement. It is necessary to stop the show temporarily. More information to follow."

Music fans attending the show took to Twitter to express their shock over the short set.

Scotland had been covered by a yellow thunderstorm warning for most of Saturday.

Scottish rockers Primal Scream were due to take to the stage later  on Saturday night.

The star returned to the stage after a short interval as torrential rain continues to hit the city.
