STEVEN DAVIS is confident Rangers can continue to go from strength to strength this term after another superb showing in their Europa League win over Midtjylland.

The Light Blues moved through to a play-off round tie with Legia Warsaw after following up their 4-2 victory in Denmark with a 3-1 triumph at home on Thursday night.

Alfredo Morelos netted twice either side of a Sheyi Ojo strike as Steven Gerrard’s side eased by their Danish counterparts and to within one stage of another group appearance.

Rangers have collected six points from their opening two Premiership matches with Kilmarnock and Hibernian and now turn their attentions to the Betfred Cup when they face East Fife on Sunday.

Boss Gerrard completed his tenth signing of the summer after the Midtjylland clash as midfielder Andy King put pen-to-paper on a season-long loan deal from Leicester City.

And Davis is pleased with the progress the Gers have made in the opening weeks of the campaign as Gerrard looks to lead his side to silverware success this term.

Davis said: “We are delighted. We came into the game on the back of a strong result in the first leg but we didn’t want to give them any incentive. So it was important we got off to a good start and we did that.

“We maybe got a bit sloppy towards the end of the game but overall over the two legs it was two strong performances.

“There were good goals and good link-up play. We have good quality in attacking areas and good competition for places as well. The three goals tonight were good goals.

“The squad is getting stronger and stronger. The manager has made some good additions and everyone is fighting for the jerseys. The manager has spoken about this - if you get a chance to have to try and take it. Everyone is desperate to get into the starting eleven so that can only help.

“It is a long season but in the games we have had so far there has been a real hunger and desire there and you can see that so far. We are now always going to win games comfortably and at Kilmarnock on the first day of the season we showed good mentality to go on and win that game.

"There are going to be different types of games throughout the season but overall we have got to be pretty pleased with the way we have started so far.”
