STEVEN DAVIS reckons midfielder Andy King can make an impact on and off the park at Ibrox after completing a move from Leicester City.

The Welsh international has become the tenth signing of the summer for boss Steven Gerrard and was in the stands as the Gers beat Midtjylland on Thursday night to progress to the Europa League play-off round.

Davis has started the campaign in superb form and is relishing the challenge of more competition for places in the middle of the park now that King is on board with the Light Blues.

He said: “I don’t know him personally but I know he won the Premier League and he played for Leicester for a number of years.

“He will be a good addition and there will be more competition for places in that midfield areas where we are already strong. We are scoring goals but another goal threat can’t hurt.

“We know that whenever you are at a club of the stature of Rangers that there is going to be good quality in the squad and the manager has addressed that in the summer and made the squad stronger in terms of quality and numbers.

“We feel that we are in a decent place and we have had a good start to the season so far.

“There are a lot of things we can still improve on but we are happy where we are at and Andy coming in will make us even stronger once again.

“I think it is always good to have a mixture of experience and youth within the squad and he will bring a lot of experience to the group as well.

“He has that experience of winning the league down there and he will be a good addition to the squad. I am looking forward to working with him here.”
