A second Irish Republican march in Glasgow this afternoon kicked-off more than an hour after it was scheduled to start - as Loyalist protesters hurled abuse at marchers.

Hundreds of riot police on foot and on mounts kept the two apart as those marching could be heard chanting "IRA" while their counterparts branded them "paedo scum" in shameful scenes.

Marchers set off from Blythswood Square more than an hour after they were due to move after similar scenes from Clyde Street earlier today.

Officers were forced to intervene to keep counter-protesters - some holding Union Jacks - at bay and move them down the road to keep them away from the march.

A police chopper was also out in force alongside hundreds of officers.

We told earlier how a man was arrested after allegedly being found with an offensive weapon on hand.

It comes over a week after sickening scenes in Govan which one eyewitness described as something from a "warzone".

Thorough searches were carried out by cops before the marching began.
