MEMBERS of the public reacted with fury after a Conservative party stunt emerged depicting Jeremy Corbyn as a large chicken.

Images released by the Tories yesterday showed the Labour leader wearing a giant chicken costume, sitting in what looked to be a locker room. The caption on the image read: "Totally spineless chicken".

Anti-Labour press releases, which accompanied the poultry, stated: " Move over Colonel, Jeremy Corbyn's the new biggest chicken in town".

Using several chicken-related puns, the Tories criticised Corbyn's choice not to back a general election on October 15th.

Outraged members of the public took to social media to clam the gimmick.

Twitter user Steve Jones (@antoniosteve) wrote: "There is a literal food poverty crisis in this country and this is what the entitled and rich Tories do as a publicity stunt.

"Utterly reprehensible and immoral, not to mention fundamentally childish. True public school banter s***e"

Another angry social media user, @Neilovichi, wrote: "There are children who will genuinely have no food today in the UK. Do @Conservatives ever remember this before pulling stunts?"

Others also criticised the stunt for wasting food at a time when foodbank usage has soared all over the country, while some questioned what it said about encouraging bullying on social media.

A teacher named Sara Anne replied to the image on Twitter and said: "As a teacher is it part of my job to deliver the PSHE curriculum which educates young minds about kindness to others on the internet - could you explain how this supports the curriculum you expect us to deliver?"

David Woodland added: Really @Conservatives? This is disgraceful. I’m no fan of Corbyn, but now is not the time for this sort of thing. Politicians need to be showing how dedicated and professional they are to win the faith from the public. Not these childish games!"
