A PERSON has died after being struck by a train near Cardonald Station in Glasgow.

Emergency services raced to the scene after the alarm was raised at 9pm on Sunday night.

Trains running between Glasgow Central and Paisley Gilmour Street were suspended for over an hour.

The line re-opened fully before 11pm.

British Transport Police have confirmed that the incident was fatal.

A spokesman said: "BTP officers attended the line close to Cardonald Railway Station on Sunday September 8, 2019, after a report that a person had been struck by a train.

“Officers from BTP attended the incident, which was reported to police at 9pm and is currently being treated as non-suspicious.

“Paramedics also attended but the person was pronounced dead at the scene.

“A file will be prepared for the coroner.”
