Ex-Hearts midfielder Michael Stewart has backed Dundee United's Lawrence Shankland to earn a Scotland cap.
Stewart won four caps during his time in Edinburgh but was left disappointed with the nation's results after their double-header against Russia and Belgium.
The former midfielder was highly critical of striker Oli McBurnie after his Russian performance and slated the Sheffield United star for failing to hold the ball up or create enough for his side.
Peter Grant urges Odsonne Edouard to snub Monaco because Celtic are bigger club
Speaking on Ladbrokes Social Club, Stewart - alongside Celtic hero Peter Grant and BT host Darrell Currie - the conversation moved from Scotland to Dundee United and Ladbrokes' Championship player of the month Lawrence Shankland.
And Stewart made the point that Shankland could do a job for his country.
He simply said of the attacker: "Maybe he could play for Scotland!"
Grant, 54, chimed in: "I know what Stevie is like and if he keeps scoring, Stevie will give him a chance.
"It doesn't matter, if he keeps scoring he'll get a chance because he's done fantastically well."
