Celtic youngster Liam Burt admits even during his time at Rangers he was dreaming of a return to Parkhead.

Burt, 20, played for the Light Blues' academy during an eight year spell after leaving their rivals as a kid.

The midfield playmaker even made a first-team debut for the Ibrox outfit.

Yet he always pined for a move back to Celtic, his one true footballing love, and couldn't wait to put pen to paper on a two-year deal when it was tabled this summer.

He told the Celtic View: "This is my boyhood club and, ever since I left, I’ve wanted to come back. 

"I was around eight when I first joined Celtic and I left at under-12 level.

“Then I was at Rangers for around eight years. 

"Towards the end of last season, I just wasn’t enjoying my football. 

"I had a talk with Rangers and expressed my feeling, they expressed theirs and we parted ways.

"Willie McStay was always back and forth with me. 

"I had other options, but [Celtic] was my main focus."
