Rangers fans have reacted to the news that director of football Mark Allen has left his role at Ibrox.

We broke the news yesterday evening that Allen had decided to leave Gers after two years alongside manager Steven Gerrard.

The Welshman was brought to Glasgow from Manchester City in June 2017 to oversee the Light Blues' transformation on and off the park under the new regime headed by chairman Dave King.

He was also involved in the process to bring Steven Gerrard to the club as boss.

After it emerged that Allen was leaving for "family reasons", supporters of the Ibrox club expressed their gratitude for their now-former director and the job he did to bring in players.

One fan wrote: "Gonna be hard finding a suitable replacement for Mark Allen who for me the job he's done is one of if not the biggest reasons we are on the cusp of 55".

Another added: "Mark Allen leaves with our best wishes. No bitterness , no threats. Just plain and simple, all the best Mark".

One said: "Mark Allen will always be a Rangers legend for bringing the Gaffer to us".

A fourth wrote: "Disappointing news with Mark Allen leaving Rangers.

Rangers did not push panic button to sign Ryan Kent in reaction to Celtic defeat, claims Mark Allen

"Curious timing, would’ve thought he’d see out the season as he’s clearly put a lot of work into it.

"Seemed like he did a great job from outside looking in. Be tough to replace".

Allen was responsible for bringing in more than 30 players in two years.

One supporter remembered: "Mark Allen wasn't the best to be honest.

"He brought in the worst Rangers manager. For every good player we signed we got one bad player.

"Wish him all the best. But we do need a more consistent director of football."

Another fan hailed Allen, saying: "Hugely disappointed to see Mark Allen leave the club. Perhaps our best signing in recent years."
