Hundreds of Feyenoord fans are on the march to Ibrox - after leaving behind a "disgusting" amount of rubbish in George Square.

Supporters of the Dutch side gathered in the city centre space this afternoon to "let the drink flow", according to Dutch media, in the hours leading up to the match.

During the afternoon, a 22-year-old man was arrested after setting off a flare.

At around 5pm the group set off from the square towards the stadium.

A tweet from a Dutch fan says: "There they go, the Feyenoorders in Scotland walk from George Square towards the stadium.

"And all of Glasgow will hear it."

Footage shows hundreds of fans, monitored by police with riot helmets, walking through the city centre belting out chants and songs.

Smoke bombs can also be seen let off amongst the crowds.

But back in the square, locals have blasted the fans for leaving behind rubbish despite a large number of bins.

One wrote: "This is really s*** Feyenoord fans. No excuse for leaving your mess in George Square with plenty of bins around the place."

Another said: "George square is absolutely covered in rubbish and im so disgusted".

And a third wrote: "Wtf is going on George Square? Looks like a bin lorry emptied itself all over it."

Earlier, Superintendent Craig Smith, the officer in charge of the policing operation for the Rangers v Feyenoord Europa League match said: "I can confirm that a 22-year-old man has been arrested after a flare was set off in George Square this afternoon.

"He has also been arrested in connection with drugs offences.

"My message to all supporters is don’t attempt to bring pyrotechnics, such as flares or smoke bombs into the stadium or set off in the city.

"It is irresponsible. They are illegal and dangerous and we will robustly enforce legislation."

Rangers take on Feyenoord in the Europa League at Ibrox at 8pm this evening.
