CELTIC have received an £11,000 Uefa fine over fan behaviour during their Europa League play-off clash with AIK in Stockholm.

The Parkhead club's supporters used flares and threw other objects during the tie in the Friends Arena.

UEFA's Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body confirmed on Friday that it had ruled against Celtic and issued them with a financial penalty.

There were clashes between fans and stadium security and Celtic blamed that on supporters of AIK's rivals Hammarby who had infiltrated the away end and sparked trouble.

Officers wielded batons as punches were thrown during the stadium confrontation. Four people were arrested after Swedish fans clashed with police at Celtic Park in the first leg.

However, fans of Hammarby denied deliberately causing trouble.

But it is not clear that the confrontations were covered by the fine.

An official Uefa statement read: "Setting off of fireworks - Art.16 (2) of the UEFA Disciplinary Regulations (DR).

"Throwing of objects - Art.16 (2) DR.

"The Control, Ethics, Disciplinary Body has decided to fine Celtic FC €12,500."

The Swedish club were also punished for blocked stairways and fined £7,048 by UEFA.

Uefa said: "Stairways blocked - Art.38 of the UEFA safety and Security Regulations.

"The Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body has decided to fine AIK €8,000."

Celtic won the match 4-1 and and the tie 6-1 on aggregate to earn a spot in the group stages.

Stockholm Police said after the game that Celtic fans had generally "behaved very well" although some fans were briefly taken into custody before the game for being drunk.
