One of the strongest ever shortlists has been named for the 2019 Herald Society Awards. The annual event showcases the most exciting, innovative or sometimes simply the most determined work in Scotland's public and voluntary sectors.
From projects tackling poverty, organised crime, homelessness or waste to individuals helping lone parents, cancer charities and people with dementia, there is truly something for everyone in our 12 categories.
The full list of finalists for this years's awards is revealed today, with the winners revealed at a gala dinner in Glasgow on November 6th.
With a bumper entry, it was a difficult job for our esteemed judging panel to decide the shortlist for this year’s awards in association with Wheatley Group.
Now in its 12th year, the well-established event is supported by evh, Turcan Connell and YouthLink Scotland. The awards give an inspiring indication of the scale, imagination, and results achieved in Scotland’s public and third sectors.

It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
