GLASGOW'S Lord Provost Eva Bolander has pulled out of a meeting on the eradication of poverty.

She was scheduled to speak at the anti-poverty event in the city chambers today but the council yesterday confirmed that she will no longer attend the meeting.

It comes after the politician became embroiled in an expenses row where she claimed more than £8,000 of public money on clothes and beauty treatments.

Labour councillor Martin McElroy told The Daily Record: "It is a sad day when the Lord Provost is too embarrassed to attend an anti-poverty event. It is further evidence for why she should resign.”
