A DRIVER who survived a crash in Ayrshire which left two men dead fled the scene before police arrived, it has emerged. 

Officers are appealing for help to track down the driver of a white Volkswagen Scirocco, which collided with a white Volkswagen Golf at 4.05pm on Saturday October 19. 

Police confirmed that the driver of the VW Golf, Kevin Hall (54) from Ochiltree, Ayrshire, and his passenger, Douglas Murray (37) from Auchinleck, died at the scene. Their relatives have been informed.

The crash happened on the westbound carriageway of the B7036/Barony Road, near the Barony A Frame, in Auchinleck.

Police are trying to establish the identity of the driver of the VW Scirocco who left the scene prior to police arrival.

The road was closed for approximately seven hours to allow investigations at the scene.

Sergeant Kevin Blackley of Ayrshire's Road Policing Unit said:

"Two men have lost their lives as a result of this crash and enquiries are ongoing.

"We are urging anyone who may have seen either vehicle prior to the collision, or who witnessed the crash, to contact us as soon as possible.

“We are especially interested in speaking to motorists who may have dashcam footage of either vehicles in the Auchinleck area or footage following the crash that could help us with our investigation.”
