A schoolgirl's Halloween costume has gone viral after paying tribute to Glasgow in the best way possible.

Five-year-old Caoimhe Flynn took her own spin on city landmark the Duke of Wellington statue for a Halloween party, complete with a cone hat and rocking horse to match.

She donned head-to-toe black clothing and dark face paint - and mounted a horse set for the dump to complete the statue's classic look.

And as a finishing touch, mum Siobhan popped a bright orange and white traffic cone atop her head.

"I always like to think of random ideas that I can hand-make," explains Siobhan. "It's good to be different.

"She had a rocking horse for years and was getting too big for it.

Glasgow Times:

"I was going to throw it out and thought about what could I do with it. It made me think of the Duke of Wellington, so I kept it by for just under a year cause I had planned to do the costume."

Little Caoimhe was a bit nervous at first, thinking that the other kids at school would perhaps laugh at her out-there get up.

But after Siobhan drove her by the iconic statue, her view quickly changed.

"I think the fact she had seen it and knew what it was she loved it," she said.

Since posting the hilarious idea to Facebook yesterday afternoon, the costume has attracted over 5,000 likes, 2,500 comments and over 4,000 shares.
