The work being done in public and voluntary groups to make Scotland a fairer place will be recognised at this year’s Herald Society Awards.

Held in association with Wheatley Group, the awards are supported by evh, Turcan Connell and YouthLink Scotland.

The organisations have joined forces to put on a glittering ceremony, hosted by TV and radio presenter Jennifer Reoch, which will take place on Wednesday, November 6, at The DoubleTree by Hilton in Glasgow.

They said the quality of this year’s shortlist was exceptionally high and a testament to “the fantastic work taking place throughout the country”.

Wheatley Foundation Director Lorraine McLaren said: “At Wheatley our mission is ‘Making Homes and Lives Better’ for the hundreds of thousands of people we work for across Scotland.

“We’re delighted to be supporting this year’s Herald Society Awards. “Given the calibre of entries we know it’s going to be an inspiring night and are looking forward to learning who the winners are.”

The Herald:

Eamonn Connolly, director at evh, said: “Well done to all finalists, not so long now before the results will be known."

He added: “Best of luck to all.”

Kenneth Pinkerton, Legal Director at Turcan Connell, said: “I’m looking forward to meeting the finalists and hearing about how they’ve made a difference. “Hopefully what we hear and learn will inspire others, taking us all forward in making an improvement to the society we live in.”

Tim Few, CEO, YouthLink Scotland, added: “All of the fantastic finalists for the Improving Young People’s Lives Award deserve national recognition for their work with young people. “I want to wish all the nominees the best of luck.”
