NIGEL Farage has urged Boris Johnson to “drop the deal” with the EU and form a “Leave alliance” or the Brexit Party would fight every seat in Scotland, England and Wales.
The ultimatum came as Mr Farage launched his party’s election campaign in Westminster.
Insisting the Prime Minister's deal did not represent Brexit, he said that if the Tories did not agree to an alliance and abandon the UK-EU agreement, then he would make sure every household in the country was made aware it was a "sell-out" of Brexit.
The party leader made clear if Mr Johnson did not agree to his terms, then: "We will contest every single seat in England, Scotland and Wales. I say to Boris Johnson: drop the deal."
Mr Farage went on: "Of course, I'm open and flexible to local exceptions and already we are in communication with a number of MPs who are prepared to renounce the Withdrawal Agreement, to renounce the deal, and they themselves to stand on a ticket of a genuine free trade agreement or leave on WTO terms.
"And, of course, in those cases where MPs say this, we will view them as our friends and not as our enemies.
"But that is not the real deal. The real deal is a Leave alliance that wins a big majority in Parliament. The real deal is a Leave alliance that delivers a genuine Brexit."
But James Cleverley, the Conservative Chairman, referred to a tweet, which suggested Mr Farage had admitted the risk of a split to the Leave vote was very real.
“A vote for Farage risks letting Jeremy Corbyn into Downing Street via the back door,” declared Mr Cleverley. “And the country spending 2020 having two referendums on Brexit and Scottish independence.”
He added: “It will not get Brexit done and it will create another gridlocked Parliament that doesn’t work.”
The comments came after Donald Trump appeared to call for an electoral pact between Mr Farage and Mr Johnson, saying the pair could become an "unstoppable force".
A No 10 spokesman said the PM had not spoken to the US President about his Brexit deal which was "agreed after they were last in touch".
He added: "The PM's deal takes back control of our money, laws and border and allows us to do trade deals with any country we chose, including the US."
Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
