A major motorway has been partially closed near Glasgow as police respond to an ongoing incident.

Emergency services were called at around 10am this morning amid reports that a person had fallen from a bridge over the M77.

As a result, the M77 northbound near to Junction 1 has been closed off.

Motorists are warned that delays are to be expected and are urged to use an alternative route.

A Police Scotland spokesperson told the Evening Times: "At around 10am, police received reports that a person had fallen from a bridge over the M77.

"Emergency services are currently in attendance.

"The M77 northbound remains closed".

Glasgow City Council TRAFFCOM team added: "Due to a Road Traffic Incident, the M77 has been closed Northbound at Junction 1 Dumbreck Road.

"Delays should be expected".
