Police have launched an investigation after a student was found dead at a leading Scottish boarding school.

Officers and ambulance crews were called to Strathallan School at around 7:20am on Monday morning, however the student is understood to have passed away at the scene.

The fee-paying school is home to more than 550 boarding students.

Officers say they are treating the death as unexplained, but not suspicious.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were called around 7.20am on Monday, 11 November, to a school near Perth, following the death of a teenager. 

“The death is being treated as unexplained. Enquiries are ongoing and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
