THE daughter of comedy legend Chic Murray has hit out over a eight-year wait for a statue of her late dad to be unveiled.
Annabelle Meredith said a council dispute over the £100,000 tribute honouring Chic and Glaswegian comedy legend Sir Billy Connolly is "ridiculous".
The 7ft statue was commissioned by city businessman Colin Beattie commissioned for outside his Oran Mor bar in Glasgow’s West End. The statue has, however, never left storage.
Annabelle, 71, told The Scottish Sun said: “The statue is fabulous and would make a lovely landmark. We need to cut through the red tape — it’s ridiculous.”
Colin, 67, added: “Billy really wants it too. We feel like we’ve been stonewalled.”

The piece, by David Annand, shows Greenock-born Chic, who died at 66 in 1985, and Billy, 76, with a see-saw, and Colin wants to reclaim a strip of land at Oran Mor to house it.
Glasgow City Council said a plan to extend the pub’s garden was discussed with planners.
The local authority added: “It was advised consent was unlikely as it would significantly reduce the width of the footway.”
