A Glasgow shopping centre has lost power after an electrical fire which saw two fire appliances at the scene.

The fire saw plumes of black smoke in the Knightswood area and power was cut in Knightwood Shopping Centre at 10.55am.

Fire services confirmed an electrical junction box was on fire at the back of the premises.

They also added that the fire was outwith the properties and the inside of the stores have not been affected by it.

Locals took to social media to warn fellow shoppers that all stores are closed.

Stores in the shopping centre include a Tesco Metro, Iceland, Subway, Greggs, Ladbrokes.

All stores in the centre have lost power and it is not known when they will reopen.

Glasgow Times:

A Scottish Fire and Rescue spokesperson said at the time: "We are in attendance at a fire at the moment. We received the first call at 10.38am and have two appliances there at the moment."

They also confirmed that Scottish Power has switched off the electricity for "safety reasons".

Power is expected to remain turned off until 7pm tonight.

Scottish Power is on the scene and the areas surrounding the electrical junction box have been cordoned off with police tape.
