STEVEN GERRARD has reiterated his firm stance that none of his key players will leave Rangers this winter as he looks to trim his Ibrox squad.

The Light Blues boss has been forthright in his answers when questioned about the future of star striker Alfredo Morelos in recent weeks and chairman Dave King insisted on Tuesday he wouldn’t entertain a bid of £40million for the Colombian during the January window.

Morelos is not the only big name that could attract interest over the next couple of months but Rangers are under no pressure to sell as Gerrard’s side bid for the Premiership title and domestic silverware this term.

And the only departures from Ibrox will be those that currently find themselves on the fringes of the first team squad.

Gerrard said: “None of my best players will leave in January. The only people who will be leaving here will be people who need game time for their own career. I need to support that and back that.

“I want to be understanding and show them the respect they deserve and try and help them get the right challenge for them to go out and play football.

“I don’t want to be selfish and keep the size of the squad - because it does suit me to keep everyone here.

“But I am upsetting people from game to game by leaving them out or not giving them the game time that satisfies them. So I want to be respectful.

“My message about Alfredo or anyone else is that nobody is for sale at any price. Nobody is going out the door in January. I can’t be clearer than that.

“I’ve had certain conversations and they are happening as we speak. I also have to make decisions about players who are out on loan. Some are satisfied with their loans, some are not.

“In the coming weeks we will pick that up and try and help support them.”
