KRIS BOYD insists Rangers’ Betfred Cup showing proves they have nothing to fear for the rest of the domestic term.

Steven Gerrard’s side dominated the Hampden final with Celtic but were left with nothing to show for their efforts as the Hoops won 1-0.

Striker Alfredo Morelos was denied on several occasions and also missed a penalty after Christoper Jullien scored a controversial opener.

The Gers have a chance to bounce back when they face Young Boys on Thursday and former Ibrox striker Boyd knows Gerrard and his players can’t afford to dwell on their Hampden heartache.

He told Sky Sports: “Was the Celtic goal offside? Of course it was.

“But these are things that happen in football.

“I know Steven touched on in in terms of VAR but it is not going to happen. You need to find a way to win the game and it wasn’t to be for Rangers.

“But, going again on Thursday, you have an opportunity to get to the last 32. You need to get there and then it sets you up for a big game at Motherwell because they are flying and playing really well.

“The last thing you want to do is go to Celtic Park on the 29th and lose that one and be five points behind. Then it is difficult.

“If Rangers can continue to play the way they did, and take their opportunities, they have got nobody to fear in Scotland and I think that is the message Steven Gerrard will be sending to his players.”
