Greenock Morton defender Lewis Strapp has been watched by Renfrewshire rivals St Mirren.

The robust left-back has been in decent form for Ton this season, playing 23 times as David Hopkin's number one choice.

At just 20-years-old, Strapp would represent decent value for money having already established himself as a starter in the Scottish Championship.

Saints are understood to have scouted the player with a view to a potential move for him. Jim Goodwin currently needs backup - or competition - for Calum Waters who himself is only on loan from Kilmarnock.

Strapp made his debut for the Cappielow men back in 2016 away to Albion Rovers in the Scottish League Cup under Jim Duffy. He has since also enjoyed loan spells at Annan Athletic and Elgin City.

It is understood there are a number of other clubs in the Scottish Championship tracking the youngster, including Dundee.
