Rangers captain James Tavernier dedicated his side's win over St Mirren to a young supporter who recently lost his battle with cystic fibrosis.

Little Ayden Cochrane, 13, tragically passed away earlier this month after a lengthy fight while campaigning for the use of a potentially life-saving drug, Vertex.

The drug, which was branded “almost a cure” by doctors, was granted through a compassionate-use scheme as the drug has not yet been granted an EU licence. Though, sadly, the teen and his family had found out only a few days before his passing that the drug would be available to use.

Fans of the Glasgow giants campaigned for a minute's applause in the 13th minute of this evening's game - a wish that was granted by supporters within the stadium.

Gers fan group the Union Bears even provided a banner for the youngster saying "Rest Easy Ayden". Tavernier - who didn't play in the 1-0 win through injury - still took time to post his tribute on social media.

He shared pictures from the game and wrote: "All the wins count & that one was for you Ayden," with a blue love heart. Tavernier, along with teammates including Alfredo Morelos, recently met Ayden as part of the club's annual visit to the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow.
