Kris Boyd has predicted Celtic will have to fend off ‘big, big bids’ for the ‘unbelievable’ Odsonne Edouard in the summer.

Boyd insists the French striker, who took his season’s tally to 24 with a double against Motherwell last Wednesday, is crucial to the Hoops’ quest to fight off Rangers and land the Premiership title this season.

He is convinced the 22-year-old is firmly in line to be named Scotland’s player of the year - but would not be surprised if Celtic lost him in the summer.

The former Rangers and Scotland marksman said: “Odsonne Edouard is an unbelievable talent. You can see that, especially over the last couple of months.

“Will he be up there for player of the year? Yes, there is no doubt about that [because of] his form. He can play with anybody. He can play in any league in the world as well.

“I would not be surprised if Celtic have to fight off big, big bids for him come the summer because he is a top player."

He added to SkySports: “If Celtic are going to keep performing the way they have been, then it is crucial that he stays fit for them.”
