A weather warning has been issued for much of Scotland with most parts of the country braced for snow and ice this week. 

Commuters have been urged to plan ahead with snow and icy conditions expected from Wednesday evening through to Thursday morning. 

The Met Office are warning that some roads and railways likely to be affected with longer journey times by road, bus and train services. 

They are also warning of icy conditions underfoot with some injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces.

Much of the country has been battered with severe winter weather this year, with a number of winter warnings as well as frequent storms battering much of the country.

In February a number of transport links were brought to a halt with severe flooding and gale-force winds. 

While snow is expected, heavy rain and showers are forecast from Edinburgh and Glasgow during much of the weather warnings.
