A MAN has tragically died following an emergency services rescue operation.
Police, fire and ambulance crews raced to the River Clyde after receiving a report that he had fallen in the water this afternoon.
A search and rescue operation was launched but he died after he was taken to the hospital.
Police said they had received a report of the incident at the Albert Bridge but pictures from the scene show that the nearby Tradeston Bridge was sealed off.
A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "Around 1.10 pm on Wednesday, March 18, emergency services responded to a report of a concern for a man in the River Clyde, near the Albert Bridge.
"A man was recovered from the water and taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary where he later died.
"There are no apparent suspicious circumstances and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesman added: “We were alerted at 1.16 pm on Wednesday, March 18 to assist emergency service partners at an incident on the River Clyde near Albert Bridge, Glasgow.
“Operations Control mobilised two appliances and water rescue teams to the scene.
“Crews remain in attendance.”
