IT'S been a weird week, don't you think? The only thing that has kept me sane is the fact I can still easily get a takeaway - for now.

I headed to my favourite spot Hooked on Cathcart Road for a fish supper amid coronavirus madness.

The Mount Florida eatery don't deliver but after a long shift in the newsroom, I needed this. So I phoned them from my car - hands-free of course - to get my request in so I could pick up on the way home.

I asked for a half-fish supper and halloumi fries. I was told there were no halloumi fries but I could get a halloumi burger.

Cheesed off - sorry - I decided to opt for the full fish supper with a wee pickle.

My reasons for liking this chippy is that it is one of the few in the city that allows you to choose your batter.

I always go for crispy tempura which is just out of this world. You also can add in mushy peas - which of course I did.

As I arrived at the shop, 15 minutes later, the order was ready. The lassie sort of knows me and jokes, "switching it up tonight?" My usual choice is chips and curry. "It's been a tough week, and I still got curry sauce" I replied hoping the comfort food would make it better.

Hooked is popular in the South Side because they offer things you don't get in most traditional chippies.

Your food is cooked in rapeseed oil and as you order it.

Some of the highlights on their menu include mac and cheese balls, fish pakora and even veggie haggis.

The food was hot, tasty and just what I needed which is what you want.

In these times of uncertainty, a takeaway might become to the one luxury we have and could be the only way for Glasgow businesses to survive.

So if you are a South Sider - Hooked is worth a try. You never know they might even start delivering.
