The number of people with coronavirus in Greater Glasgow has risen to 449.

That is an increase of 48 from yesterday's figure of 401.

The revelations came during the Scottish Government's regular 2pm daily update.

In neighbouring Lanarkshire, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases has gone from 184 to 197.

Earlier during her morning press conference, First Minister Nicola Sturgeon confirmed 1563 people have been confirmed to have coronavirus in Scotland.

That is a rise of 179 from yesterday's figure of 1384.

108 people are in intensive care - an increase in 13.

Sadly, 47 people have died - an increase the figure of 6 from the 41 from yesterday.

The First Minister also revealed plans to create a temporary NHS hospital in the SEC in Glasgow.

She said: "I can confirm today following exploratory work over the last week and the weekend, we have taken the decision to start turning the Scottish Exhibition Centre in Glasgow into a temporary NHS hospital.

"If needed, we expect the hospital could become operational within a fortnight from now.

"Initially it could provide us with an additional 300 beds, but ultimately it could have capacity for more than 1,000 patients."
