A man has been found dead outside of a police station in Ayrshire.

The 50-year-old’s body was discovered in front of the police office in Saltcoats on Tuesday morning.

Officers are not currently treating the death as suspicious, though several streets around the station remained closed off for most of the day.

A report has been sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland told the Ardrossan Herald: “Around 9.30 am on Tuesday, April 7, 2020, a 50-year-old man was found dead outside Saltcoats Police Office, Glencairn Street, Saltcoats.

“A post mortem examination will take place in due course to establish the exact cause of death which police are not treating as suspicious at this time.

“A report will be sent to the PF.”
